The Word Made Fresh

The Word Made Fresh is a collection of worship resources for Advent and Christmastide that offer a fresh perspective on the Christmas story. These services were prepared with the purpose of helping congregations to engage more deeply with the meaning of Christmas.

The Advent liturgies focus on the themes of hope, light, joy, and peace. They offer an alternative to the more traditional focus on people of the nativity story and suggest links with current social and ethical issues.

The carol services interweave the traditional carols and Biblical narrative of Christmas with new meditations. Using the voices of Biblical and 21st Century characters, the meditations explore issues and hopes that resonate with contemporary congregations. Each service builds towards the culmination of our hopes in the birth of Jesus Christ.

There are also resources for a reflective Christmastide, the period between Christmas and New Year when it can be difficult to create worship that embraces the season without repeating what has already been said.
