Jack London is an iconic American writer, social activist, mostly known as the author of adventure fiction. "Theft" is a play in four acts, published in 1910. This story is combined the romantic relationships, political interests, decency and betrayal. According to the testimony of his wife Charmian London, the writer believed that this time he wrote "a real good play." However, the New York theatrical agencies which was proposed the London's drama to, unanimously refused it, and London had never seen the "Theft" in the stage performance. Apparently, the New York theaters feared that if London's accusatory drama is staged, it will become an instrument of the revolutionary propaganda.
