These two plays, Henry Had to Go and Evangel, are comical plays involving religion. The first is an edgy satire concerning church real estate and what might be called poorly managed human resources. In addition all the characters have a sometimes mystifying interest in music.
Evangel is an imagined disputatious encounter between the writers of the Gospels and the Biblical critics of today. To put it simply, the former would have been flabbergasted by the claims of the latter.
