Introduction

This chapter begins with an eye opening motivation for the book before progressing to the growing problem posed by employment and employability, which can be mitigated by developing and acquiring relevant skills and in the next section, which outlines the growing skill that I will be explaining step to gain financial freedom.

1.1 Motivation

I have been motivated to write this book to my passion for promoting individuals going through hardship or want to progress in their skill.

This book is to serve as a catalyst for a paradigm shift to a focus on skills acquisition; also my goal is to help anybody reading this book. No knowledge-based economy can thrive except there is an abundant supply of highly skilled citizens.

In the same vain, unemployment and unemployability will remain problems in society unless there is a paradigm shift from degree to skills. I am not opposed to people obtaining certificates and degrees, as I obtained little; including, ingoing Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Diploma in Computer Operations and Management, Diploma in Computer Application, Certificate in Microsoft Office Packages, Certificate in Data Entry, Certificate in web design(non code) and many more.

THE GROWING IMPACT OF UNEMPLOYMENT AND UNEMPLOYABILITY

According to the United Nations' International Labor Organization, "Persons in employment are defined as all those of working age who were not in employment, carried out activities to seek employment during a specified recent period and were currently available to take up employment, carried out activities to seek employment, carried out activities to seek employment during a specified recent period and were currently available to take up employment given a job opportunity" (Sakamoto, Sung and Pantami, 2018).

The reason of this break through speech am giving is that many people relay on degree order than skill, I am not trying to discourage those that have degree; No that is my purpose of writing this book.
