Understanding Development Psychology In Education

Educational psychology is one of the branches of applies psychology concerned with the application of the principles, techniques and other resourse of psychology to the solution of the problems confronting the teacher attempting to direct the growth of children towards defined objectives. Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another. The quality of education depends to a great extent on the quality of leadership in education. Education is an essential part of human activities and adventures, which make people live well in any society. Objective and subjective education will not come in our way on its own without proper educational leadership. Educational leadership effectively brings advantageous changes both in educational scenario and in social structure. Educational leadership and social changes are very closely inter-woven and cannot be seperated from each other on any basis. Understanding this, an international seminar was organised in Tallinn, Estonia in November 1994. The book deals in great depth, the history of the growth of education in this sub-continent. While new and innovative developments have taken place in most developed countries, the concept of adult education in India has evolved around basic literacy.
