Living in the northern reaches of the Kingdom of Artredes, Ariana finds herself taken into the protective custody of a rogue dragon when a goblin invasion threatens not only the safety of her family, but the existence of the entire kingdom. Aided by an outlandish wizard Ariana discovers that she is a critical target of the invasion, secrets are being kept from her, and the fate of kingdom that has banished her father is hers to save.

Vexorg has been barely tolerated by his race since the end of the Goblin Wars. When he decides to defy the Dragon Council to make amends for his past and perhaps save those who are unaware they are in danger, he immediately becomes an enemy of those he seeks to rescue. Escorting the daughter of his old ally results in unexpected consequences upon which the existence of the dragon race hangs.
