Everyone agreed that George E. Marsh, a rich retired soap maker, had no enemies. And yet, on April 11, 1912, someone shot the 76-year-old billionaire with five gunshots before depositing his corpse on a bluff with a view of the salt flats in the vicinity of Lynn, Massachusetts.

The next day, his corpse was discovered. Since the victim's wallet and gold watch were unharmed, the crime seemed to have no apparent motivation, and there were few available leads. However, while investigators searched the murder site, they came up a piece of woven fabric with an attached pearl-gray overcoat button. It could or might not have originated with the murderer.

Fanny Adams, if she were living today, would likely be startled and hurt to learn that her name has been so adversely associated with English slang. What specifically did Fanny accomplish to earn this kind of eternal fame?.

Ironically, there is no response. Innocent Fanny Adams was brutally killed in a crime so heinous that it rocked Victorian England to its very foundation.
