Twenty long winters have passed since the Battle of the Temple of the Oak Tree was fought; and the threat of war between the Nyeg and the Ar looms ever larger as the Breach Sea continues to shrink. While powerful magic inextricably pulls the two warls together, Jeaf Oakenfel and the Hammer of Power are unexpectedly drawn into the Ar's encompassing darkness and are tragically lost.
Though the Prophetess stands alongside Nyeg Warl's armies as they amass on the Breach Sea's eastern shore, her ability to use her magic to fight Ar Warl's cruel Sorcerer is in jeopardy without the Hammer Bearer at her side to protect her. Muriel's magic, after all, is a focal point of the war; a trump card needed to win the dangerous game being played.
But as fate would have it, the Prophetess and the Hammer Bearer are not the only ones in their lineage who possess powers. They have given birth to four sons -Travyn, Kaylan, J'Aryl and A'Roan- who have mystical abilities that can be used to aid the Nyeg in its struggle with the Ar's aggression, abilities, at best, unrefined or, at worse, hidden.
Young men all, prophecy launches the brothers into a quest to unravel the mystery surrounding their father's disappearance. Risking their lives, the siblings slip into Ar Warl to face Ab'Don and the host of dark wizards and evil spirits he commands. Unless they find allies who will help them discover their father's whereabouts and bring him back to the Prophetess who so desperately needs him, the outcome of the impending war will be set in stone, a stone that will be used to crush Nyeg Warl beneath its ponderous weight.
