When the man living in Flat 5a , wakes up one morning and discovers there has been a murder , Carlos, the slimy and secretive man next door raises his suspicions. Yet, for some reason the police know nothing of Carlos and find the neighbour with strange habits and ideas more interesting and suspicious than the elusive Carlos.

An intriguing and gripping short story of a warped, Weird mind.

"I took my coffee with me to the landing and then peered down at the entrance to the building. Insects. That's what they reminded me of, all those uniformed people. I could see about six of them standing around a lump on the floor which was covered by a green sheet. I guessed it was a body, a person I supposed. Police don't come and check out a dead dog, so it must be a person under the green thing.

"Murder" I turned and saw my neighbour, Carlos, standing at the top of the stairs.

"Murder? I don't know. A dead person, for sure." I said.

Carlos walked towards me. Strange how he never made any noise when he moved. Probably why it had taken two years of living in this place before I knew he existed. Even now, I'm not sure which apartment he lives in. It might be number 4b or 6a. I don't know why I think that, just a feeling about him. He looks like a 6a man to me. 6a was empty for a long time. Not a peek from the place. Somebody moved in though, there's a new doormat with a "Welcome" sign on it."

A story of Weirdness and Suspense set in the lonely world of our 'not quite right in the head protagonist' to delight you and leave you wondering about your own next door neighbour.

If you enjoy reading modern Gothic and suspense that looks into the warped minds of humans, then you can't go wrong with this one, it'll entertain you and the protagonist will creep you out.

You will be checking out your own weird neighbours just to make sure that he's not living close by.

Carlos and I continued to look at Don Federico and the two policemen, Don Federico was gesticulating with his hands. He tilted his head back as he rambled on. Then he caught a glimpse of Carlos and me standing on the landing. He touched one of the policemen on the shoulder and then pointed up at me. Carlos quickly walked away from the banister and went towards the recess in the wall close to 6a. I stared at Don Federico for a moment and then turned to go back inside my flat. I was stopped in my tracks by Señora Gomez. She was standing directly behind me as I turned. I nearly had a heart attack she was so close.

"What's going on down there?" She shouted because of her deafness.

"It looks like someone's been killed" I said. I tried to walk past her but she gripped my arm with her frail hand.

"What's happening?" She shouted again. Then she kept jabbing her finger at the empty space beyond the banister.
