We want to honour the memory of the men who had their lives taken away as they fought to ensure our freedom. But how can we properly honour them when we don't know who they were?
This book is a collection of biographies of the soldiers named on the Honour Roll of Transcona Memorial United Church, a dynamic, urban Winnipeg church.
These are the stories of the 44 soldiers connected to this church, but they could be the stories of any man who lost his life in the first or second world war. These few men represent the more than 100,000 who lost their lives.
Read these brief biographies and get to know our soldiers. When you next attend a Remembrance Day service or visit a war memorial, think of the soldiers you're honouring, not just as names on a plaque, but as men who had dreams and hopes for a future that they would never see.
