"White Nights" is a novella by Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821-1881).
First published in 1848, it was translated in English by Constance Garnett (18611946) in 1918.

One night, he encounters a girl, alone as him, named Nastenka
The novella has been adapted for the screen numerous times, including the 2008 movie "Two Lovers", starring Gwyneth Paltrow.
