Reflect on bite-sized Bible readings
that provoke thought and
deepen understanding
There is a prayer attributed to Sir Francis Drake that included the thought, 'It is not the beginning, but the continuing of the same, until it be thoroughly finished, that yieldeth the true glory.' In this edition of Words of Life the beginnings are easy to identify Creation, Israel's nationhood, Christ's public ministry and the birth of the Church. In all these events and in Paul's two letters to the Thessalonians we catch glimpses of God's glory.
In line with this edition's title, 'Beginnings and Glory', we see Jesus' ministry begin. Guest writer Captain Marie-Eve Bösiger explores the freedom we have in Christ through his death and resurrection. In contrast, Holy Week looks at attitudes that bound together the opposition to Jesus.
Come the weekend we need a rest and the encouragement to begin another week, so our Saturday and Sunday thoughts reflect these themes.
