Persist

I ran in the lost, in the middle of the human world. It's the same but also so different from what I've seen before, like two completely different worlds. A lot of people passed in front of me, noticed me or not, but they all carried a kind of darkness on their shoulders. Older people are more dark, young people are less dark but more chaotic. There are shadows I've never seen before.

They are so strange that it scares me.

I feel the sky is gray even when it's sunny. The coldness of the darkness was more numbing than any cold I remember.

I find humans terrifying. Scary thoughts, scary actions, and even the darkness they carry is scary.

Hiding behind a sheet of cardboard wet from the rain, I watch warily at the people passing by. The darkness they carry has mixed emotions, sadness, pain, anger... emotions that make me bored, just like the overwhelming sour smell of garbage floating in the air.

Amidst the gray sky, a girl with bright eyes full of stubbornness suddenly appeared in my field of vision. She stooped, making her hair disorderly frame her thin face. The thin legs exposed from the big windbreaker made the other body even smaller.

She didn't smile. Quiet as the darkness hanging over his shoulder. This girl's eyes make me feel so familiar, like she's been with me ever since.

When I was startled back to reality, I was picked up by her. The familiar scent mixed with the smell of bitter coffee covered the body. The warmth once again hugged me tightly, so peaceful that I didn't want to break free.

I want to be with this girl. I don't know how long, but I regret that feeling of closeness, and also this strong, warm embrace.
